Domain Age Checker & WHOIS Lookup

Find out when a domain was registered, when it expires and who it’s registered with.

Every domain’s registration details are kept by the registry for its extension (Verisign for .com, for example). This tool asks that registry directly using RDAP, the modern replacement for WHOIS, so you get the official registration date, expiry date, registrar and status.

Why domain age matters: an older domain has a longer history, which many buyers value, and a domain that expires soon may be about to change hands. Checking the age and expiry is a good first step before buying, selling or making an offer on any domain.

Questions

How do I find out how old a domain is?

Enter the domain above. The age is calculated from the registration date the registry reports. If the domain was deleted and registered again at some point, the age counts from the newest registration.

Why can’t I see the owner’s name or email?

Since 2018 most registries and registrars hide personal contact details for privacy. To reach an owner, use the registrar’s contact form or the contact page on the website itself.

What does “transfer lock” mean?

It’s a normal safety setting that stops the domain moving to another registrar by accident. The owner turns it off when they sell or transfer the domain.

The domain shows as available. Can I register it?

Very likely, yes: the registry has no record of it. Some names are reserved or priced as premium by the registry, so check the price at a registrar before you buy.

Is this tool free?

Yes. There’s no sign-up and no limit for normal use.
